The other baptism in the book of Acts is immersion in water in the name of Jesus. This is what we’ll concentrate on in this study. This is the baptism Jesus commanded His disciples in the great commission to perform on those who would believe their preaching of the gospel and want to be followers of Jesus (Matthew ; Mark ). Yes! Definitely. After all, “Mormon” is just a nickname. We’re members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Accordingly, we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the World, and He loves us all more than we can imagine.

PUBLICK BAPTISM of INFANTS ſanify him with the Holy Ghoſt, to give him the kingdom of heaven and everlaſting life. Ye have heard alſo, that our Lord Jeſus Chriſt hath promiſed in his Goſpel to grant all theſe things that ye have prayed for: which promiſe, he for his part will moſt ſurely keep and perform. Wherefore, af-ter this.   First, not everyone who was baptized (with water) later received the baptism of the Spirit. In fact, of the (at least) nine occurrences of water baptism in the book of Acts, two are followed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and one is preceded by the Holy Spirit precedes baptism by water (Acts 10).

      – Romans tells us, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, .   This book is listed under Christian books; however it is an unofficial publication of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormon). While most of the statements in the book reflect Christian beliefs on baptism, there are multiple references to Mormon scripture and s:

And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.

As discussed previously in Kno 2 Nephi explains that the reason why a sinless Jesus would need baptism, is not for the remission of sins but to publicly witness His making of a covenant to be obedient to the Father.1 In that KnoWhy, we cited emeritus BYU Professor Noel B.

Reynolds as asserting that for Nephi and subsequent Book of Mormon figures, baptism principally. Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

It is true because Luke says that being baptized with the Spirit is a fulfillment of the promise of Joel 2, and Joel 2 promises an upsurge of prophetic power among God’s people.

It is true because Luke describes being baptized with the Spirit as receiving power for witness when the Holy Spirit comes upon you (Acts ).

(3) Unto what then were ye baptized?--The answer of the disciples had shown (1) an imperfect instruction, falling short of that which catechumens ordinarily received before they were admitted to the new birth by water and the Spirit; (2) an imperfect spiritual experience.

14 But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying: After ye have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptism of water, and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of.

Alma preaches in private—He sets forth the covenant of baptism and baptizes at the waters of Mormon—He organizes the Church of Christ and ordains priests—They support themselves and teach the people—Alma and his people flee from King Noah into the wilderness.

Ghost." Matthew p. 1, Para. 1, [BAPTISM]. "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Markp. 1, Para. 2, [BAPTISM]. In these two texts we have the importance of baptism set forth.

Paul wrote, “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Colossians The recurrence of that word “buried” is a striking common denominator among the descriptive phrases about baptism.

After setting forth a set of obligations assumed in baptism (Mosiah –9), Alma invited Helam to be “baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you” (Mosiah ).3 Then.

When Alma began to baptize people, he declared that their baptism would be “a witness before [the Lord] that ye have entered into a covenant with him” (Mosiah ,13).

Later on, when the righteous people of King Limhi wanted to be baptized, they understood that baptism was meant to be “a witness and a testimony that they were willing to. Question: "Does Acts teach that baptism is necessary for salvation?" Answer: Acts“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” As with any single verse or passage, we discern what it teaches by first filtering it through what we know the.

Later, at a listening party for his highly anticipated (and still unreleased) Jesus Is King album at George Washington University, he joked that his favorite version of the Bible is the King James Version because it says, “Ye” all the time — a moniker he had adopted for himself.

He then said, “Excuse me if I mispronounce anything, I’m a recent convert, that means I recently got saved. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts ).

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

1 Peter The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His commandment to the Nephites illustrates that baptism is part of the process of cleansing: “Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day” (3 Ne.

This is what the Lord stated in Matthew 28 and Mark & 2)Baptism meant baptism in water unless explicitly stated otherwise. In the book of Acts, those who obeyed the Lord were baptized by going down into the water as the Eunuch did.
